At 2:06 I'd reached Lance Creek, the last good camping area before the 5-mile stretch requiring bear canisters (which, of course, none of us had). Herb and others planned to camp at Lance that night, but I pushed on and reached this sign at Jarrard Gap at 3:40 PM. No mention of bear canisters!
