I left Rock Gap shortly before 10:00 AM and reached the wide parking area and highway at Winding Stair Gap two hours later. At 2:20 PM, I arrived at this Siler Bald Shelter, already occupied by a group of six hikers, probably all in their twenties. I was person #7 in this 8-capacity shelter.
